Drahtzug offers a wide range of social benefits.
Employment and jobs
At Drahtzug such people find work and employment that would now or otherwise be denied to them in more commercially-focused enterprises. These benefits enable participants to remain socially and societally integrated and, even in difficult personal circumstances, to have a purpose and receive commensurate recognition.
Training
We train young people as well as integrate them in the world of work. Our organisation provides more intensive and sustained support than would be possible in the majority of other companies. This also allows young people to find employment during and in most instances after the turbulent phases of their training and apprenticeship. By virtue of this, Drahtzug plays an important preventative social role in greater Zurich area.
Accommodation
Drahtzug offers accommodation with assisted living services and facilities for 28 people. The residents live independently in small communities and receive support in managing and completing day-to-day tasks.
Studio
Scope for creative expression and supervised daily routines are combined in the studio. Participants work on creative projects that they each choose, are supported by a competent team and so establish personal daily routines.
Production and services
The fields of work in our social enterprise are remarkably diverse:
We package and dispatch mailshots, articles and foodstuffs.
We fabricate bags and cases from canvas and vinyl mesh in the textiles sector.
We complete bookkeeping and other office-related tasks.
We manufacture cable trays and assemble electrical items.
We warehouse your items and operate your mail-order business.
We turn gardens into blossoming oases.
All of these tasks are carried out by people with a learning disability – the diversity demonstrates the potential that they nevertheless possess in spite of their severe mental illness.
Our customers
Orders are entrusted to us by various companies and organisations; our work for them is carried out in our workshops as well as directly on site. In many cases our specialist personnel will have been trained to a level recognised by the respective sector and also have a social welfare qualification. This ensures that we are able to attend to your needs and requirements actively, with commitment and a high level of quality.
Responsible body
The body responsible for this social enterprise was founded in 1925 with the objective of providing social integration for people with limited access to the world of employment. Today we operate in partnership with the Canton of Zurich and the Federal Social Insurance Office.
